The knit cap, also known as the beanie, is a warm and shapeless hat until you place it on your head and pull it over your ears. It has been around for many centuries and is so ubiquitous that almost every newborn has a brand beanie with pompom, as its first fashion accessory. The hat comes in all styles including snuggle ears beanies, brimmed beanies, among others.
One of the popular beanie styles of the early twentieth century looked like a skullcap that comprised of 4-6 felt panels that were sewn together to create a cap. The panels consisted mainly of two or more contrasting colors to give them a distinctive and unique look. This type of customize beanie was a hit with some fraternities and colleges as most had the different school colors in the various panels that created the hat.
